Two types of Legal Maternity Tests - (Court admissible)

Legal Maternity Testing with the mother is also known as a TRIO test. This is the standard test that will be ordered for a court admissible legal test or when all parties cooperate to verify maternity.

The Trio maternity test requires a DNA sample from the child, the father and the alleged mother(s) with government issued photo identification, be photographed and fingerprinted with full chain of custody documents.

A final result report will have the actual names of the child, the father and the alleged mother, a notarized signature from the AABB accredited laboratory, the tested DNA systems, the probability of maternity (POM) expressed in percent and the combined maternity index (CMI) expressed as a ratio to one.

Legal Maternity Testing without the mother is also known as a fatherless test or father not tested (FNT). This is the standard test that will be ordered for a court admissible legal test, when the father is unavailable or the father refuses to cooperate.

The FNT maternity test requires a DNA sample from the child and the alleged mother(s). A final result report will have the actual names of the child and the alleged mother, a notarized signature from the AABB accredited laboratory, the tested DNA systems, the probability of maternity (POM) expressed in percent and the combined maternity index (CMI) expressed as a ratio to one.
